Poor Me

About 6 months ago, the 69 picked up a very prominent ROD knock. So I get the trailer and tow her home and park her out back. I miss her so bad. I have a nice 99 Dodge Cummins diesel to pull the race car, but miss the 69 immensly. She still starts, I drove her down the street cause I miss her so bad. When I came home I just pulled her into the garage and tomorrow she starts coming apart. Oh let me tell you about one mad woman. Bathroom floor this, front yard that. Will they ever learn.

So the big decision is:
1. Just get a crank kit and a rod, ring and bearing it and put her back on the road.

2. Put vortec heads on it when done and put her back on the road.

3. add 71 "RUST FREE CAB" to either option.

4. Add 71 "RUST FREE CAB" to 69 4X4 frame with option 1 or 2.

5. Get rid of wife and buy one 67-72 for each option.

LOL -> 5. Get rid of wife and buy one 67-72 for each option.

If a rod is knocking now, dont find out how far it will go... And if its already knocking pretty loud all the time, dont try a crank kit. Thats just a patch. If its just a slight knock on start up or hot idle you might have good luck with just a crank kit. Remember though, You've had metal running through the all the bearings (cam bearings too!). It may last a few months or a few years but your better off doing it right the first time and saving yourself some $$$ in the long run. Also if the rod is knocking, there is a good chance the bearing has spun or elongated the rod end.

Gotta go with Zcast. You may just be putting off the inevitable. If your gonna do it will cost and whats more cost effective than the best bang for the buck iron head on the market (Vortec). Sometimes the wife doesnt always know best.

Pull the engine and rebuild it. There's so many affordable, quality rebuild kits on the market these days it boggles the mind. The Vortecs are a good choice....just don't forget to get a Vortec type manifold to go along with those heads.

You don't have to get rid of the wife completely just lock her out of the garage, and whenever she does that female thing of B***hing all the time, run to your man santuary(Garage). Make sure its a big, sturdy, strong lock, 'cause you know that females have super human strength. Good luck!!!
