Question Info on seats please?

I have 1990 seats in my 80 Blazer. I think I want to go back a few years?
Can anybody tell me, was it 88 or 89 or ?? when they changed the seats.
Mine are like a grey velvet and the ones I am looking for have a ribbed or herringbone look.
Also, my rear seat has only centre belts, the outside ones come from the roof. I need a back seat that has 3 belts attached.

Thanks, Doug

Re: Info on seats please?

GM changed the the body style in '88 for trucks. The Blazers & Suburbans didn't change until '92...

Re: Info on seats please?

Thanks.

I know somewhere in the 88-91 period they changed the seats. I had a high back bucket that did not recline and then they went to the recliner. The recliner is what I have in it now but uncomfortable for my wife. I was hoping to go to the old high back style but thought I would go burb so I could get armrests and recliner.

I know what you're talking about, and I actually prefer the newer style, old body style seats like you have. The seem a little more comfortable, but then again that's a personal preference.

My 87 has the seats you're talking about though. I think you'll need to look for years from 81-87 or so.

Re: Info on seats please?

The seats changed to the "ribbed" design on the Blazer in 1987. That is also when it started the tip/slide feature.

All Suburban floor pans are basically the same from 1973-91, they are VERY simular to the pickups and have a hump in the floor. Bucket seats were NOT offer until 1984, so any buckets from 1984 -1991 should work on any Suburban (or pickup for that matter)

Re: Info on seats please?

Thanks Capt.

Alaska....I have an 80, I had seats that flipped. I put 90 seats in with sliders and just drilled new holes. I was looking for ribbed sub seats but now looking for newer ones. I think I will go 99-04 sub or tahoe as they have integral belts. That way I can take my roof off and still have belts on the rear seats.

I took the frames from the seats to paint. I would think you can bolt any seat to any frame with a bit of thought so I would explore that.

I also had a hell of a time matching seat belts from the door the the floor. Different size clasps!!

If the 99 don't fit my floor, I will try to bolt them to the 90 frames.

I am also seriously considering going 73 full top. Love the open air!!!

Re: Info on seats please?

Thanks capt k;;;been needing a answear to the floor hump question for years,,again thanks...

low-b-doug---my problem is i have no bucket seat brackets--for this 86 burb--just corbeaus brackets---but i have someone on the board here helping me....and yes we have tried and will again once we get the real brackets--to just fab them to the older bucket seat brackets---not much of a option there....as it turns out though doug--i ended up with 2 beautifull sets of seats from a 98 burb-tahoe rich navy blue leather seats with single armrests....very beautifull indeed....if you want 1 set at my cost--i'll get it to you with brackets and all--but again for a 98---all elec drivers--with flips...

and yes open air all the way---wish my burb opened up more--but i did put in 2 moon roofs and that helps big time.....let me know....

thanks again
john
