Thoughts on BFG Mud Terrains?

I had some Super Swampers that I liked on the trail, but couldn't stand the vibration, noise and handling on the paved roads. I sold them to a guy that painted my K5 for 300 bucks and 9 of his wheels, 5 factory, 4 aftermarket.
I picked up a BFG Mud Terrain Tire for 50 bucks at a used tire shop for my off road spare. What do you guys think about the BFG for both off-road and over the road performance etc. Most of the reviews I"ve read were favorable. We don't get much snow in Alabama, more rain than anything else. My plans are to put the mudders on prior to hunting season and remove in Feb/March each year.

Thanks,
Tim

I run the all terrains and I agree. The problem is the all terrains load up with wet clay/mud and they become slicks coming down the hills from the hunting cabin.

Re: Thoughts on BFG Mud Terrains?

I have both Mud T/A and All-terrains. The Mud T/A are awful in the snow unless you sipe them and they hum on the road a little but my daily driver has some narrow 33x9.5 pizza cutters MUD T/A 's and they surprised me how smooth they ride compared to others. The all-terrains favour better in the snow, but don't compare in the mud to be honest. Like mentioned above they gum up because the lugs aren't big enough to be self-cleaning. Mudders are always cooler IMO.

Re: Thoughts on BFG Mud Terrains?

I bought the Mud Terrains from Discounttiredirect.com yesterday morning. Free shipping and the best price I could find. I'll let you know how it turns out.

The mud terrains suck on snow and ice but they are great in the mud on our 87 blazer

Re: Thoughts on BFG Mud Terrains?

Very happy with Discounttiredirect.com. Ordered the tires Tuesday morning and they were on my front doorstep Friday morning. The garage smell great right now. Almost as good as that "new car smell".

I'm cleaning up my extra set of rims prior to mounting them.
