Moving to VT

I have a 72 Blazer that I have been working on for the past few years, however, I am going to be moving to VT and I'm not sure if I should take it with me. I don't want it to get completely destroyed during the winter, and it is too big for most garages. Can anybody help me decide what to do? Oh yeah, it is free for me to move it, but then if it doesn't work out I am not sure if I would even be able to sell it back there. I did a search for any Chevy older then 1985 on collectorcartraderonline and couldn't find anything within a 300 mile radius, which makes me think the demand for a 72 Blazer would be low. Anyway, any comments or suggestions would be great.

Based on your avatar photo it looks like you have a pretty good size lift and tires. You could (don't gasp) drop down to 33's with 2" lift and fit in the garage.

So here are your options:

Keep the lift and lose the Blazer

OR

Lower the lift and keep the Blazer

Looks like a no brainer to me.

If you don't find a house with a garage large enough (which is certainly within reason) then build one to suite.

The reason you didn`t find pre-85s in a 300 mile radius is due to lack of supply not lack of demand.It would be much in demand if you were to decide to sell once back east.Besides,Kurt will buy it .People pay $1,000 or better to bring clean-bodied vehicles back east,you`d be ahead there.There are many many collector vehicles in VT.A hotbed,even.People have learned to cherish what is so hard to keep.And,that Vermontianites tend to care for all things vintage.They have antiques up the yin-yang.The grand daddy of the collector car hobby is located in VT,HemmingsMotorNews.Before computers,you didn`t know nuttin`if you didn`t know Hemmings.GO FOR IT!!!

If its free to move it, then there is no way I'd sell it in San Diego vs hauling to VT and selling it. I'd guess you could pay for a LARGE portion of the gas for your cross-country move with the difference in price you could get by hauling it across the country as you go.

BAD idea to have it hauled to VT. Either sell it there or bring it to Kentucky on your way to Vermont. I will store it for you and/or buy it from you then you don't have to worry about having a big truck in a high gas price location with few folks who really appreciate it. Although Hemmings is located there, most of them folks don't appreciate Blazers (I crused with them this summer to Alaska and they couldn't spell anything other then antique or muscle vehicles!!). Seriously, no old stuff cause salt rusted them all gone by now. That's both good and bad--good if you want to sell it but it would need to be complete and running---bad in that you wouldn't find any in local yards. They're all gone just like in KY!!

?????Ya think?????I agree you won`t find alot of 4wd fanatics in the Hemmings crowd,but there`s alot of folks in those green hills of VT that love 4wds since it has always been a place they are "needed".I don`t think you`ll consider selling it once your there.It is because of the winter salt ruining older vehicles that a nice California bodied vehicle of any design would be highly appreciate and you could name your price.You just say,Go find a better one."In CA they`ll say,"Ok,I will."Back east they`ll say,"Hmmm,you gotta point."The other thing I tell people who can`t think it out for themselves is,the cost of body work on a local vehicle will cost more than 1/2 of what I`m asking and it`ll take forever,may be done right
may not,and you`ll always worry the rust will come back at the seams(and it will).So,do what you want.
Also,if you decide to sell it,they`ll come from all over the east for it.That 300 mile thing is for places like California.I`ve gone 3,000 miles to get a good one.
