Superwinch hub question... lockouts have play in them

was messing with my superwinch hubs today and noticed that both of them have some outward movement in them (1/16th - 1/8th") is that normal? Other than that they operate fine. Took one apart and the movement is due to the snaprings not holding it tight to the inside of the hub. My Milemarkers dont have "play" in them. Should I swap them out or is there some kind of spacer that might be missing, or is this normal?

My superwinch hubs have zero movement. Are you talking about the whole outer section or just the dial?

the whole outer section "pulls out" just a bit. There is slack between the inner unit and the snap rings that allows play...both hubs do it the same...

Does your outer section have an o-ring seal on it? (it seals between the outer hub body and the tube portion of the hub assembly itself) Mine does and it seems like it's almost 1/8th of an inch. Might be why mine don't move.

Re: Superwinch hub question... loskouts have

maybe not..i'll have to check it out...someone might have done a brake job at one time and left them off.... they work great other than the play. O rings would hold the inside parts up against the clip rings better...thanks.

mine didn't do that, but the directions that came with my hubs said it was ok to have in and out movement.

Re: Superwinch hub question... loskouts have

On my Warns there is an Oring that seals the hub. I would guess that small amount of movement will not cause an issue other than alowing water in...possably.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
