headers with bags plz!!

I am looking for a set of headers to replace the rusted ones on there now. I am looking at the Hedman Elites, but am wondering if I should get the shorty's since the truck in the future will be bagged.

Re: headers with bags plz!!

Depends on how low you expect to go. Some full length headers have plenty of room if you're not laid out. Mine are only about an inch bellow the frame rail, but my frame is about 8" off the ground when dumped, so it's not an issue.

Re: headers with bags plz!!

You can't go wrong with Hedman Elites. 3/8" flange, 14ga tubing, ball flange collectors, nice coating. If you're bagging it, longtubes will be too low.

Re: headers with bags plz!!

Edelbrock shorties let's you use your factory exhaust. So I imagine just about all shorties are the same. They stick out just a little further than the stock exhaust manifol maybe by an inch or so.

Re: headers with bags plz!!

11108FLT is the part number for the ones that everyone I know uses. They are shortys from Flowtech originally for an older camaro but work great on our trucks.

For Big Block and bagged, I heard Sanderson C5 full length will clear very well.

Re: headers with bags plz!!

Chevelle headers were NOT a bolt-in for me. Big time intereference with the motor mounts. Swapping to 73-87 motor mounts cures this problem, but does nothing for the 1/4-3/8" frame 'clearancing' needed. Your results may vary. If I had it to do again, I'd probably spring for the Hedman shorties that fit perfectly with no issues, even considering the screamin' deal I got on the Chevelle style. <--My $.02.

Re: headers with bags plz!!

Sorry to hear that gringo ... I know a few people that have used the DynoMax Chevelle\Malibu headers that had no problems.

Were your's DynoMax brand or an another? I ask only because I am curious if there is a difference between manufacturers.

They were the eBay headers. I got them for way less than what they normally go for, so I'm not real upset about doing some small mods to make 'em work. They are surprisingly quality pieces though; thick flanges, heavy tubing, nice coating. I imagine if I'd been using them on a Chevelle, I would have been completely satisfied.
