Photos of your Floor Shifters!

I joust bought a borg-w 4 speed for my truck, its got a nice hurst shifter, but i don't know if the bench will be in the way, the handle is not that long, it was in a '80 camaro.. perhaps it won't reach.

I wanna see how long of shifters you guys use, perhaps i may need a new one..?

Re: Photos of your Floor Shifters!

I had a 3 speed floor shifter with the Hurst 4331 shifter handle. 6 cylinder mounting position. The handle just cleared the bench.

The 6900 handle is 3 inches shorter.

Now that I have the Tremec TKO 5 speed, the 6900 handle fits better because the shifter is on top of the transmission instead of on the side like the 3 speed.

Below is a picture of the two. Sorry I don't have a picture of them installed on the truck with the 3 speed.

Thanks! that is an awesome photo and the info I needed, mine is the same as the shorter one, but has a side bend in it.. obviously it will be too short.

nice work.

Re: Photos of your Floor Shifters!

When I put a "His & Hers" Hurst shifter in my`71 Blazer I bought a taller shifter.I know back then Hurst had a couple pages of levers in various configurations.I had it to where I could rest my arm along my leg on the edge of my seat and the handle was right there where my hand was. That`s the one thing I always remember about that rig.I could get in a mud-pit,steer with my left and grab gears with my right.I got another lever for my transfer case.I cut the factory lever to below the floor and welded the Hurst lever. It came up just to the right of the tranny shifter. So,I could kick it in and out of 4wd and grab gears w/o reaching,so I could do 2wd powerslides, then throw it into 4wd and blast straight out of my slide.(why did I every sell that thing?)

This angle is not very good but here's a pic of my B&M Megashifter. The truck version is a little taller than this and better for a bench though.

Yes, The Hurst catalog still has 3 pages of shifter handles (I think pages 47-49 inclusive). You can look it up online out of the Hurst master catalog (dial-up connections be warned, the master catalog takes a long time to download).
