Re: Follow up on Longhorn purchase!

Every 50th Longhorn I have ever seen has been a Custom Camper but then again they were built for campers so there is no reason why they should not have included that option in the package. In the Restoration Guide it lists Custom Camper as an option but refers the reader to page 4 of the "RV" section of the Guide (not included of course) for the minimum requirements for this badging.

Re: Follow up on Longhorn purchase!

I don't know alot about GM trucks but what makes a Longhorn a Longhorn, whats with the slit in the front of the bed sides, looks like someone cut it and then decided not to remove it. The reason i ask is there is one running around here with the bed like that.

Re: Follow up on Longhorn purchase!

The Longhorn was first introduced in 1968 (mid year) as an option with a 133-in one ton frame, 6-in longer than a standard lwb truck. They were designed for the popular camper market at the time to offer a longer bed and heavier frame for the added stress of the big 11 or 11.5 ft long campers. GM did not retool the entire bed...they just added 6 inches between the standard bed and the cab. It is the tell tale signature of the Longhorn...along with the Longhorn badges on the box.

Re: Follow up on Longhorn purchase!

Two other items about Longhorns are all had wood floors and all had rear leaf springs due to the longer frames.

Re: Follow up on Longhorn purchase!

You can read all about the longhorn in the link in my signiture. However, basicly, what they said is dead on right.
