Re: Anywhere i could find a steering column shifter spring?

Is your column a tilt or non-tilt?

Around here compression springs are availabe at the local hardware that can be cut to length. I can measure a spring and post the dimensions if you let me know which one to measure.

if it is a tilt, go to the dealer. P/N 1894851
If it is a non tilt... there is no spring.

Go to the dealer. It is probably under $5. I don't believe anyone aftermarket makes it, unless you match it up at a hardware store. It is also not worth the effort to remove one at a junkyard.

Re: Anywhere i could find a steering column shifter spring?

my guess would be yes, because they still have the tilts and i doubt they changed the spring, but i would try them first with the P/N 1894851 from Longhorn Man before you try the hardware store

Re: Anywhere i could find a steering column shifter spring?

You would be surprised what they still have at the Chevy dealers. In the past 2 months, I bought the sport mirrors and a rear tag frame from Chevrolet. The spring in the tilt column is probably the same as the newer units, and is probably still available.

yes, the spring is still avalible from the dealer, and most likely it is in stock. I've bought about 200 or so for the trucks we were rebuilding at work.
