2WD Dually front end; different from regular?

Hey all. What's the difference? Is it just spindles or is there more to it than that? Thanks,

Greg

I think its spindles & hubs that are different from 20 to 30 series......maybe somebody else can shed more light on the subject?

I think that the 1 ton trucks have a Dana 60 front end also. The 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks both have Dana 44s. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Well, know if you put a daullie drum on a non daullie, the tire will stick out too farr.
The longhorn has the correct drum on one side, and a daullie drum on the other side.
While not 100% sure, I think that is all you need is the drums and then wheels of course.

So the drum sticks all the way out like that? Wow, didn't expect that; I woulda thought there was an extra long spindle.

What about ones with disks like 72+? I think there might be a couple in my neighborhood, maybe I'll try and grab a peek (though not too close, don't wanna get my butt whupped 'cuz someone thinks I'm up to something )

Thanks for the replies,

Greg

A pc of the hub sticks out, to accept the bud wheels, & the spindle nut is recessed in the hub. thats wild, I didnt know the spindle was the same!

Great replies as always, crazy, thanks for that!

Sounds like a pretty wild setup. I thought maybe they had some kind of weird floating bearing or something in there.
This means I should be able to take the front crossmember from a dualie truck and just use regular brake rotors. Cool!

Did the duallies have bigger brakes or anything like that?

Greg

I have no idea on the disc brake set up...things may have chainged by then.
On the drums..the Longhorn has base model brakes, (for a one ton anyways) and the drim slipped right on. They may have had an optional brake set up, but I have never heard of it.
I'll try to look in the restoration catalog tonight.
And the recessed bearings and all that looks kinda funny.
The wheel doesn't really stick out much, just a little. I'll look through my pics of the thing with the front clip still on and see if it is noticable on any of them.

LOL! It's all good man.
If you look real carefully, you'll see the drivers side tire is out further than the passenger. It is only like an inch...maybe a little more.
