Question Kick Panels with Speakers

I ordered a pair of kick panels without speakers for my son's 70 C10 thinking finding speakers to fit would not be an issue. The problem I have is that the driver's side panel with the Infinity speaker installed, doesn't look like it will let the emergency brake pedal clear. Did I mess up by not getting the kick panels with the Pioneer speakers included that Golden State, Brothers and other vendors sell? I'm trying to understand if this is a standard issue regardless of what I buy.

Thanks.

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

I bought mine from Wes/Gary at Classic Heartbeat and love them.

I did have to take the emergency brake out, heat it some, and then bend it out about an inch. Clears just fine now- just need to practice not kicking it every time i get in and out of the truck.

You will like them after you get em adjusted.

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

you might have problems with the bright switch. I like mine though. I also went with the infinity speakers. They sure sound great.

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

Thanks for the info...I've looked at the pictures of the kick panels with speakers included on several websites and it looks like the speakers don't extend beyond the abs pod edge when sold as a package deal. This is fine if you can find a speaker to fit (approx 2" deep). My Infinities are 2 3/8" deep which won't let me mount them on the inside of the abs kick panels. If I can get the e-brake pedal out of the truck and bend it without boiling the sea...I'll do that...otherwise I'll have to find the shallower speakers.

Thanks again.

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

One correction...my Infinity 6012i speakers have a 2" depth measured from back of mounting bracket to back of magnet.

ghackett1, Your installation looks great. How much above the kick panel pod do your Pioneer speakers extend?...and did you have to move your e-brake pedal in the process? Lastly, what part # or model # are the Pioneer speakers you used?

Thanks.

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

www.crutchfield.com usually has great information on speaker depth, size and such (at least the catalog does). You could also retofit it with a 67-68 hand parking brake...

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

msgross, What is involved in putting the 67-68 hand parking brake in a 70 C-10? Is this a bolt in or a custom modification? Thanks

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

don't know for sure, my hand brake bolts right under the steering column, i'll take some pics for you. Only difference will be the cable running under your truck ($35).

Re: Kick Panels with Speakers

I cut my e brake and welded it again offset to the right. works fine and is not too far over in the way of the clutch. It looks straighter than bending it and really only moved it over 1 inch.
