i can't seem to keep a support bearing in my truck for longer than about 1000 miles the p.o. had replaced the motor and trans mounts to correct problem but didnt. i found the spring bushings bad and have replaced all!! has anybody else had this problem, and fixed it??? 72 c-10 lowered2'' front, 4'' rear, leaf spring rear

. please help!!

Do you have an adjustable panhard bar? I lowered my truck 5" and the rearend was pushed off to one side as a result. I went through 4 center support bearings as a result. I've since switched to a one piece.

Hey dave2953 was it difficult to go to a 1 piece? I wondering this because I have a two piece in my '69 swb. Mine's a factory four speed does that matter any? I would like to eventually gone to the single piece driverline.

No, just a little spendy (for me anyway) I actually found my one piece in the scrap pile at my local exhaust shop. I had it cut down at a driveline shop and it was about $130 for everything. I did have cut the pillow block out, but that was the only clearance issue I had. I don't think it matters that you have a four speed. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hmmmm.... My support bushing is going out, but because of old age.....I hope. All my support crossmember where the trailing arms connect (is that what its called?) is a little rusted. I would like to find a replacement, possibly a tubular one if available. Perhaps that one-piece driveshaft thing could be a path also. Do you know what kind of driveshaft it was?

I would def. look into a panhard bar if I were you, I have airsprings all the way around, so your drop would probably throw your rear end off like mine did.

I was just pokin around under my suburban and noticed that my center support is worn out. How hard is it to replace? Thanks Nick

They aren't too bad to replace. Every time I've replaced one I took the new bearing and DS to a driveline shop and had it pressed on and u-joints installed. I've heard of people beating the bearing off with a hammer, but I didn't ever try that.

RocketChevy56: I'm not exactly sure what the application was. I think it was a Chevy truck, but I'm not certain.

The one in my 71 GMC was simple. All I had to do was disconnect the the ends of the drive shaft from the tranny and dif, then pull the two apart from the bearing. Mine uses the bearing with the single tab, but of heard of the other type. Are those ones pressed to the drive shafts?
