1985 C10 350 2WD Short bed - Official Project Thread

Since I never started an official thread for my project, here it is. Paid $500 for it under the assumption that the clutch was bad. Well, the clutch is fine, it just need the cylinders replaced, but now I have a problem with the trans I cannot diagnose. (See here for the trans help thread) It has a bit of rust on the cab, but the bed is SOLID (see pic, haha) as well as the frame.

My plans are around 9" of lowering in the rear and 5-6" in the front with some 15x8" Cragars. Nothing fancy, I like plain trucks. I'm a 2nd year paint and body student with my own little shop and I plan to get this truck "fixed up" by the end of this year with a nice two-tone job.

Any suggestions are always welcome, and I'll definitely help around here as much as I can.

Oh, I forgot to mention, it used to be a 4.3 V6 truck and was swapped to a 350 and apparently a CAR TRANS. So yeah...

The radiator cowl is from a Ford, and it is zip tied on, I was wondering if I could just take it off and still be OK? Just open fan and no cowl?

Id leave the cowl on cause it does help a bit, but id look for one for the truck should be one in about any junkyard. Also might want to let the bed drain that water out of it will help save the bed.

As for the trans and your question on that thread from what i can see the bell housing is the same as that of the truck kind. Id say its the same but maybe the po messup as well or it might be different. But who knows.

Would it be beneficial at all to put electric fans on it and just remove the stocker altogether? Also, the bed it clean now, that was the afternoon after a good rain (first rain in months).

Why fix what works unlesss your make the water pump a electric pump its not very benifical, casue you not gaining any power and now you rely on the battery to keep cool. Unless your going to make it a street rod then yea go for it but might need a bigger motor first . I run the stock belt fan and have a 180 degree temp at all times.
