need a lift kit
does anyone know of somebody who makes a 2WD lift for a 79 chevy c 10 1/2 ton pick up? or even if not a lift does anyone know if i put 1 ton coils in the front end how much would it lift the front end and would i need longer upper a arms?

well you could buy blocks for the rear to raise it and coil spring spacers for up front.
Or I know jcwhitney sells the rear leaf springs seperately, don't know if they are listed for 2wd or not. Maybe the 4x4 ones are the same and you could use thoose.

You building like a pre-runner? I was just wondering on your plans for the truck. I think you can just buy some lift springs for the front from like summitracing.com and block the rear. How high you want to go?

i put rear springs ( leafs) in the back end of my 1/2 ton to lift the rear. I also did alot of heavy work with my truck hauling garbage. This gave me a nice lift and a rake of about three inches i suppouse you could use spring spacers in the front but i just put in 3/4 ton coils and while it didnt raise it a lot it did some . the thing is with such stiff springs when driving over bad roads especialy in bad weather the truck lost traction without a load on it

yes im building a pre runner i dont want the back lifted any at all just the front.. infact im taking out the helper leaf in the back to make the back go down a little bit.. i just want the front end up.. yesterday i jacked the fornt the the truck up so the tires fell down as far as they could and not matter what im going to need new upper a arms becuz they hit.. thats no big deal.. but i need to know if theres a lift out there for the truck to jack the front end up.. i need about a 6 -8 inch lift..

yea i saw that but d the down travel as well.. does anyone know if fabtech or pro comp makes Upper A Arms for my truck? becuz i think no matter what i do im going to need new upper A Arms that r longer and curved to allow more down travel.. i was thinking of coils.. but i dont know where to gwet longer coils.. maybe go with some 1 ton coils but then the front end would be real stiff.. today i took out the helper leaf in the rear on each side it dropped the rear of my truck about a half inch or so.. and it made the rear a little a very little bit softer.. which is good becuz my rear suspension is STIFF! but i am going to keep lookin n se if i can find some a arms thanks for the advice and help keep it ocmmming its all much appreciated

Go to PartsAmerica.com and look up the specs for yer stock-replacement springs, then go to yer local Advance Auto Parts and ask for their paper catalog for TRW/MOOG coil springs, then take yer time browsing through it and find coils with the same OD, ID, and spring rate as what yer stockers are, but with a 1.5-2" longer free height. What that gives you is lifted front end without any stiffening, which is really what you want. Don't forget to switch yer shocks too.

Just a few numbers, for stock replacements for a '79 C10 with a 350 engine:
- INSIDE DIA.= 3.68 in - BAR DIA.= 0.781 in - FREE HEIGHT= 13.64 in - SPRING RATE= 843 lbs/in - END 1= PIG TAIL, END 2= TANGENTIAL So what you want is a spring with OD of about 5", free height about 16", and spring rate around 800-850lbs/in.
