Re: Killers 5.3L install
geting the gas tank installed today...i think the quality is great, but how your ment to mount it is with a bolt and nut on the back side... almost impossible to get the nut on with the bed on... so i welded the nuts to the frame so you'll actually be able to take the tank out without a head ache.....
it doesnt hang down low at all, as a matter of fact, you'll probley wont even be able to see it once the bed is on.. also heres a sneak peak at the guage cluster killers getting ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by 68 short step; 01-10-2008 at 08:51 AM. |

Re: Killers 5.3L install
got the fuel line ran today, held on with .5" insulated cushined clamps... also finished up installing the trans lines clamps....summit sent the wrong fittings, so i gotta wait till next week to mnt the fuel pressure reg/ filter and plumb it up...
also so i dont leave ya hanging to long on the guages here they are.... i had to get 2 turn signal indicators for ya , also im gonna put the high beam indicator in the tach just below the '40' (to give it that stock feel), and i gotta add a red check engine light.... but heres what i have so far... the black wires are grounds, and will be hooked up to the quick-connect when all the mentioned lights get put in..also these wires are matching color code for the painless wiring diagram.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by 68 short step; 01-10-2008 at 08:51 AM. |

I'll have to save for a year or two, I hope you're still doing this as I would seriously consider you doind a swap for me. I have a 1972 GMC Jimmy and I think any modern 4X4 driveline would be sweet!! Killer71 has posted about $13,500 (I'm sure that'll change) is that including the engine/transmission? BTW You're welcome, you deserve the compliments. This should be a magazine feature!! |

Re: Killers 5.3L install
im sure ill still be doing these type jobs so when you're ready...
i believe that 13500 did include the engine/trans, but he'll chime in with the budget, if he chooses...he's very serious about what he wants and doesnt mess-around...we're replaceing EVERYTHING and updateing it as well... so it should be a very sweet truck when done!!! Re: Killers 5.3L install
I'm kinda concerned....is that tranny cooler going to be enough? I wouldn't think there is enough airflow underneath the cab to properly cool it. Something you might want to make sure of (maybe you already did.....if so disregard

Re: Killers 5.3L install
yeah, i agree. i'd like to do this swap into my 4x4 '72 blazer with the DOD and everything... 13,500 sounds like a lot at first, but then i think about having to build a garage, buy a welder and other misc. tools, my own screw-ups, etc. if i were to do it myself. then 13,500 starts to sound like a bargain...

thealien you couldn't have said it better. I'm a very particular and had some reservations about turning my truck over to someone I didn't know especially 300 miles away. But after talking with don he helped to ease my mind and after I researched his work I knew it was just a matter of me getting a motor/tranny and him getting freed up before we got started. This fella is very meticulous about his work and it shows!
