Re: Anyone wish they had one back?

I had that truck I think 2 1/2 yeas ago . It came from Iowa . I shouldnt have sold it but.......I did . I think I am going to sell my tan truck soon but the black one was probably the one I SHOULD have kept . Someone once told me that there will always be another . I want to do a bigblock truck and dont think I want to mess with the tan one . I am going to find another cab for a 77 that I have had since Highschool and build it . Frank

Re: Anyone wish they had one back?

My first real truck - '84 long bed GMC Sierra Classic given to me by my dad when i was 16. Got a new Z28 in 1991 and lost interest in the truck at the time - freeze plug blew out and i ended up practically giving it away to get it out of the yard.

16 years later and the Z is long gone, but i'm still playing with old trucks. Hope to build one up as a mild custom and give it back to dad someday in the not too distant future.

Re: Anyone wish they had one back?

How about one that got away? There are a couple I would like back, but not as much as I wish I had bought this one.

My wife thought I was nuts ( she's right) but I could see this one growing in value considering what I could have bought it for..

Re: Anyone wish they had one back?

Ken ,
How long ago was it that you thought about that truck ? Also ,it looks to have the Mandarin Orangish interior that I have only seen (in person) one time. I would have probably tried to buy that truck even if the wife wasnt on board . They say it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Frank

Re: Anyone wish they had one back?

Frank the pics are dated 2004. I had someone interested in buying my 77 so I went looking for a replacement. I found that one, but my 77 buyer backed out after he heard my price.

My wife didn't think I needed "another" truck, and a Blazer, and a....

Jeff, If I had bought that truck I posted above my plan was to make it a woody....

That was the first truck I ever did body mods on. I can still remember how bad the tailgate warped when I filled it.
Tossed it in the trash and filled another.
It was a quick learning curve on welding thin sheet metal. Everyone gave me a hard time about painting the truck black.
I figured "if I can get this looking right in black anything else I paint should be a snap!"
Snap...snap...snap...snap....

I ended up shooting it twice before it was done.

It was a cool truck for it's time. I truly miss it.
I wish they still made those rims. I had a 71 Camaro that had those, back in my mullet-wearing high school days. Those would look incredible in 17".

Re: Anyone wish they had one back?

I know it aint a chevy hehehe, but I sold her to buy the black 87 that sits next to the 78 ford. That really was a great truck. I don't care what anyone says, I think the 73-79 fords were just as good as the 73-87 chevy. Driving the 87 is much more practical, and my gosh the ride, startups, fuel mileage, and all the goodies a silverado has, makes it much more pleasurable to drive. The ford was a fun truck, but me being 18 years old with a p/t job, it was getting expensive. I am glad I have such a great truck to replace the ford. This 87 is awesome!
