Will I run into any problems removing a bed side with the bed still bolted to the truck? From what I can see all I need to do is remove the bolts and grind a few short welds holding the side to to the wheel well housing.

You will have to move the bed back a little to get to the bolts on the front bed panel

There shouldnt be any welds holding the bed side to the wheel well. If you are seeing the welds about a 1/2 inch inside the wheel well that is where the inner and outer is welded together. Look farther in and you will see some bolts that hold the wheel well to the bed side. There should be a small tack weld on the furthest back point of the bed on the rear stake pocket where it attaches to the bed floor. As for moving the bed back to get the bolts back there you might be able to get them with a box wrench and one of the weird looking phillips head screw drivers, the ones bent like an L. May be worth a try first before moving the bed back. There are 3 bolts and 2 #3 or #4 phillips scres holding the bed to the front panel. Hope this helps.

Also the easiest way to remove the side bed bolts that holt the bedside to the floor is tighten them till they break off. I did this to the second on I did MUCHO EASY!!!!

It involves working with stubborn rusty bolts but the job isnt that hard.I use the air impact and tighten them till they break.The downside is new nuts and bolts are in order but why not replace anyway? There is some welds needing grinded off at the back by where the stake pocket goes down.It shouldnt take much grinding to get that off though.Remember,you have to be on the underside of the truck to get to the nuts so the lower the truck,the more difficult it is.If the bedside dont want to come loose,Check the area around where the welds were grinded.There is some bolts around that area too.

Thanks for the info. I was ready to get the PB Blaster out and start soaking the bolt. Will try the impact thing first. I don't see any phillips head bolts holding the side to the front. Just 5 regular bolts. It's a 69 LB. Ralph

Sounds like someone replaced the phillips bolts, which is a good thing. As the hex heads are alot easier to remove.
