Post Vehicle Information Online using VIN

Where could I find info on trucks with our VIN numbers for free?
Where is someplace I can go for free to check on any car. Carfax wants to charge $15.

I have a 72 Cheyenne 10 with a V8 350 and a TH-350 auto-tranny.
white/ochre/white/ochre
ochre/saddle interior
Runs well... working on body.
Plan to get painted weekend before memorial day weekend.
Planned to be done March 7 when I turned 16. Didn't happen. Chose to do better job and be behind schedule instead of 1/2 doing it and it looking like junk.

What you trying to find out on the truck? If your looking for history, I dunno if there is any place to go. If looking to decode, you came to the right place.

You can get a resto pack from GM using your VIN at www.chevrolet.com.

Go to the "Contact Us" section of their customers area. Fill out the form (you'll have to enter something like "Silverado" for a choice because they don't have old names, and their VIN's are 17 digits so I just added 5 "x"' to the end of mine), and ask to get a restoration packet for your truck.

They'll respond with something like:

Quote:
Dear Mr. Graham,

Thank you for contacting the Chevrolet Customer Assistance Center. A Restoration Package and an RPO
Code Booklet have been forwarded to your mailing address. Please use the RPO Code Book in
conjunction with your vehicle's Service Parts Identification (SPID) Label to determine your
vehicle's factory options. Also, the Restoration Package may provide you with further information
regarding vehicle history and option availability. This information should reach you in 6-8 weeks.
If this information has not reached you in that time, please contact us again.

If you have any further questions or comments please feel free to contact the Chevrolet Customer
Assistance Center at 1-800-222-1020 weekdays between 8am and 11pm Eastern Standard Time or by e-mail
at cac@Chevrolet.com.

Thank you for making Chevrolet your vehicle of choice!

Sincerely,

Alee Cha
