Which Board Vendor

Here is the situation I am getting ready to buy all my parts to get my GMC restored. The total bill thru LMC is going to be around $2600.00. I would rather buy everything from a board vendor but I only want to do so at one stop. Is there a vendor that carries everything LMC does? I have looked at their sites and can not find all the parts I am looking for and does any vendor offer free shipping whan an order gets over xxx dollars like LMC does.

Alot of the vendors on here have less than stellar websites, but if you call and talk to them, they wil hook you up. Try doing that with LMC. Anytime I have a chance, I call an order in personally. Just a little peice of mind, knowing that you are being helped by a knowledgable human being vs. a faceless corporation like LMC.

I agree- I'd care less about the site and more about just getting on the phone and dealing with someone that understands your vehicle; not an "Order taker". For a small business a site like their's can run from $70,000.00 and up. You need to sell a LOT of parts through the "Net" before that seems like a good deal. Another benefit of dealing with Wes, or Tim Christian and others is they USE the parts they're selling you and know what's good, bad, and ugly. I've relied on these guys for technical support and advice in my own build and I don't feel there's a better way to spend my own money.

BTW: This type decision is much more than "Supporting the board" it's about being able to pick up the phone and saying "I bought this XXXXX from you and the directions are horrible.....can you explain it to me". You can't get that everywhere.

Re: Which Board Vendor

I'm sure that several of them would do that, just ask them. Be sure and check with GMC Paul too.

Re: Which Board Vendor

Better than that find a swap meet or show you can make. Most vendors have a calendar of events on their website. You not only get your parts but get to see a show and meet some pretty darn nice, knowledgeable folks, too. And there's no shipping.

Be sure and call the chosen vendor and let him know what you need so he can bring it to the show for you.Give them enough notice in case they need to order something in for you.

Yes, check out the vendors, their show schedules and if you can't find them at a show close by, find the one that is closest to you to save on the shipping. All the board vendors are listed on the link in my signature. You may have to scroll down the list to see them.

Do you have a list of what you want? We can get most everything everyone else can as well. May be able to help on shipping if I know what you need.

Re: Which Board Vendor

It must have been you I talked to on the phone the other day. I appriciate that you gave us the opertunity to talk to you, but the problem with most of us board guys is that we do not deal in the large quantities that companies like LMC does. They get better freight rates than we do because of the quantities they ship and they also buy at a better price, so they can afford to offer free freight for larger purchases. Having talked to you, I know that your order would include 2 front fenders, witch automaticly go into truck freight or at least oversize FedEx or UPS. Being smaller companies our margins are smaller also to try to compete with the larger companies. But on the flip side to that, just like has been mentioned above, you get more than parts when you buy from any of us. You also get help when you need it. (Try to get that from LMC) Another advantage with the board venders, is that we are more quallity oriented. I know for myself anyway, that I don't always sell the cheapest parts, but I do sell the highest quallity availible on the market. (Not true with LMC) Also, being quallity minded, if I know of a problem with a particular part, you will know about it befor you purchase it. This gives you the opertunity to consider if you want to repair what you have, or buy new. I can understand building on a budget, but sometime that comes at a cost too. Witch means that you may be buying some of the parts twice, because the parts you bought from LMC have to be heavely modified, or just plain do not fit. I am not saying that all LMC parts are bad, but some of them are, and they will definetly not be arround when you have a question. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide. WES
