Question carburator troulble, '81 malibu 2 barrel

I have an '81 Malibu, 82,000 original miles, 6 cyl, 2 barrel. Three times now lately it has flooded with fuel into the engine and into the oil from gas that free flows from the carburator. I tried to start it but it stalled out after running about a minute. Then it would not restart. When I took the cover off the air cleaner I could see gas going into it. Why would it do this? Thanks, Jack

Kinda sounds like your needle valves are stickin in the open position. These daul-jets are the worst part of the 3.8. It is also the crappiest carb known to man. I'm suprised it lasted this long.
You can try rebuilding it, but I would look into another kind of carb, can't help you on what to put on it, but i would look into it though.

yes, those cabs are the most horrible ones thay designed, very crappy indeed, and picky and millions of small parts and minute adjustments and they leak alot and time for a V8 engine...
