Post Custom exhaust

Anyone running a custom exhaust on their trucks? If so, what do you have? I think Im going to have to rebuild mine, and would like to make it "legal" this time. Right now I'm running true dual exhaust with full length headers, no cats, and 3-chamber flows. I really like how it sounds now, but for it to be "legal" it has to be a single pipe. So Im thinking a good 3-inch system sould be good, any suggestions?

I'm running 2.5 all the way from the headers with a X pipe then to 2- 2chamber flomasters 40 series dumped right after tehm before teh axle. You can see it here at http://www.geocities.com/cjhicks1/exhaust.html Also you can hear it here http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/temp/TRUCK.mp3 On yours I would contact the local Department of Transportation and ask them what exaclty do you need and what are the limitaions. If you have to run the single pipe get a high flow cat that has dual inlets and a single outlet. say 2.5 or 2.25 for first pipe then 3 all the way after the cat and through the muffler. That should help you out alot in performance but still being legal with one exiting pipe

87Grey,

Here are some sound of my truck. It has the stock manifolds, one high flow cat (blown out by accident ) and one 40 series flowmaster. It has a very nice rumble. My brother has the same setup with a 3" flowmaster and it's way louder. It's a little annoying for the highway. My setup is great for the highway. You can pull up along side and just barely hear it at highway speeds. If want rumble and city driving the 2.5" flow master will work. If want noise add the 3" flowmaster.

If you want a first class street legal system ,from front to back, then check into the Edelbrock TES systems. DAVE

To be legal, it does not matter the # of pipes coming out. You can run daul exhaust, you just can not relocate your catilitic converter(nor add a second one). They consider that tampering. They way to do it is to get a cat with 2 inlets, and outlets. This is a perfectly legal part, and since your verter is missing, it is legal to install it. (if you have a good cat, it is considered tampering to remove it...even if to just replace it with a new one)
