Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
this is a true static drop .
I took out all the springs and bump stops so it's sitting bottomed out . there is no driveshaft in it . the engine runs real good , im not shore what year it is the valve cover don't have Chevrolet embossed on it and it has a vent hose on the left front side of the valve cover. the engine compartment wiring and dash wiring is totally trashed so it won't even yard drive yet . I just wanted it to look cool until I get a chance to start on it. I picked up a complete 79 front 5 lug cross member and the 5 lug rear with highway gears. I got 2 eight inch 5 lug truck rallys for the back , now I want to find 2 seven inch 5 lug truck rallys for the front I need to pancake the 79 cross member before I put it in and get some C notches before I put some springs in it. |

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
In the front what is the first thing that makes contact so that it will not go any lower?

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
I took measurements on my truck today. As far as I know it hasn't been dropped at all. It's a 1966 GMC with rear leaf springs. Front from middle of rim to fender front was 19 inch and the rear was 22 inches.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
forestb
the bump stops are the first thing that hits with no front springs in it. so I removed them now the lower a arms are sitting tight against the cross member. it has stock spindles on it and the cross member is about a inch or 2 off the ground now. in the back the stock un cut frame rails are laying on the rear axel housing . I need to pan cake the front cross member 2 inches and put C notches in the back so I can put some short springs in it to get some working suspension . its going to be a 6cyl 5spd . Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
That is interesting I figured that the cross member hitting the ground would be the first thing to bottom out (excluding the bump stops of course). Would using tubular lower A-arms keep them from bottoming out first and allow you to go lower so that the front cross member makes contact with the ground?

A sheet of diamond plate steel and tired springs in the back. Lowered torsion bars in the front.

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
Transports are a 22" stealie/smoothy made by gm. They can be ordered with the same bolt pattern as the stock 15" wheels. Commonly used on vehicles that are "slammed".

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
CPP 2.5" drop spindles with 3" springs in front and 5" Springs with 2" blocks out back. Tires are 275/50 I think all around but switching to a 255/60 or so in the front. So that should bring it down a tiny bit more.

Do you have any rubbing issues in the front when turning?

How does it drive? Are you running a c-notch, shock relocator, flip kit, or anything of that nature?

Re: Post Pics of your Static Drops!!
It rides really good. I was surprised. No C notch but I am running front and rear shock relocators. The Hotchkis springs are really nice and I'm sure the ride tech shocks help out a lot too
