Which parts are original and which parts are from the donor?
The critical item would be the Vin tag from the door jamb on the cab.
My understanding is that this tag would need to match the frame numbers and have the original rivits or original style rivits installed.
Do you have a title and vin plate for the original K series truck?

Some people will cut the vin plate out with the surronding metal and attach it to a different cab.
Some states are easier to get things titled than others.

Talking

Like Hutch said, states have different ways of doing the retitling.
What you have is like a lost title and I would believe that the DMV has forms for retitling. In Michigan, you have to make an application and part of the form work is having a policeman (or sheriff deputy) verify the VIN number on the vehicle.

I would suggest talking to your DMV about applying for a missing or lost title. They probably have a form.
