first off be careful with an 81 as they have many parts from 73-80 style. I believe i can help you with almost everything that bolts to the engine.including pulleys and a condensor. I just sold the only interior/firewall set up i had. email me privately at all4trux@snip.net .DAVE

ya shoulda said something a few days sooner, i trashed the a/c on the 85 burb- busted up the boxes to get the heater core oput for copper $$ , boxes and everything else would have worked for ya,...... it always happens like this every time...
i even trashed a 90% rustfree 76 a/c silverado cab that had also had the a/c compressor and brackets on engine and all still .. and also another 76 a few months ago at about the same time that was an a/c truck all complete too.

every 73-87 i ever find is always a/c, tilt cruise p/s, p/b, loaded, all except an 81 i had until last spring. Cabs are normally rotted off the frame rails though- so are junk trucks, but were driveable, but scary to do so with

no one wants this stuff til its gone...

im pretty sure you have to midify the firewall on 73-up to add a/c to them also. not same cabs, i never pay attention to firewall i just scrap em.

good luck

thanks guys, i just finished re wiring the entire truck with a Painless kit. It was fairly easy but time consuming. all i have left is rebuild doors, dash(A/C included) and interior.

Would Junk Yards be helpfull or should i try the after market route, For ac and other parts?

Or is there any good sites that would have parts, i like the chevy duty but they are pretty limited.

oldman,

Get catalogues from www.jcwhitney.com www.yearone.com www.cheyennepickup.com www.lmctruck.com. Cheyennepickup and LMC trucks have the better catalogues. They have detail pictures off the stuff you need for the A/C. Brackets are resonable but a boneyard will probably better except for the compressor, condensor and accumalator. If you have to buy hoses don't get any from the boneyard. The hose rot from the inside. Have a new set made a local A/C place. The new hoses today use a plastic barrier between the outter and inner portions. This barrier helps keep the freon in your system. New hoses for my '83 cost <$100.

Try www.ebaymotors.com.
