Remote door lock

Dont know if this one has been answered or not having trouble programing remote door controlers I have 2005 Tahoe I bought used got 2 remotes but one or the other i can program not both at the same time not sure what im doing wrong nether remote has a 1 or a 2 they are twins. I got instruction from the dealer but the process does not seem to work.

The instructions go like this.
1. Close all the doors.
2. insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder.
3. press and hold the door unlock switch.
4. While holding the door unlock cycle the ignition on,off,on,off.
5. Release the door lock unlock switch the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the program mode.
6.Pressand hold the lock and unlock button on the remote at the same time after few seconds the doors will lock and unlock confirming the remote is programed.
7.Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 remotes
8. Turn the ignition switch to run in order to exit the programimng mode.

Well I figured out were I went wrong I followed the directions. Step 7 says Repeat the previous step to program up to 4 remotes. Well when you do this it takes you out of programing mode and starts you over only alowing you to program 1 remote so with out following the direction I did the first 6 steps and then switched remotes and then step 8. Now I have 2 programed remotes.
