Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

I have been busy working on my motor. Here is a few pictures. Dad started to sandblast the Frame so we can get it painted and put together. Finally starting to look like something.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

I for one really appreciate the pics on the front windshield metal work. I believe I posted before, we have a 59 Apache and she is rotted out all around the top of the windshield. I assume you fab all the pieces yourself. Correct? I suppose these cannot be bought. Everything looking great

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

You are correct, it will take me roughtly 30 hrs to do the entire windsheild frame start to finish. I wish that you could buy it, but i believe that you can not. i am using a shrinker / stretcher to bend the metal to how i want. each section i am doing has three pieces. when i have fully completed the windshied frame i will do a write up on it for he FAQ for anyone that is interested, it will give everyone a better idea on how to do it themselves. Later guys.

WONDERFUL! I for one will be very much appreciative. The FAQ and PICs are a big help.

SHrinker/strecher, I heard about them but never used one. I'll run a search on Enco or the www to get some prices. Any particular brnad I should lean to? Thanks a ton. I am already feeling better about this, but I know it is not no easy pop fly.

You can buy the complete cab roof that has the front and rear window pieces and top of the door opening. Might be easier to work with a complete piece if you rust is real bad in all four areas.

Later: here is a link to what I saw, this is the inner panel, they also have the outer panel, I don't know if they include the window channels. the inner looks like it might. http://www.ecklerstrucks.com/product...dept%5Fid=1398

Thanks, thats for sure an option, but then we would not get a chance to buy some fancy tools.

I will try and post a pic of the 59 to get you guys opinion. That is if its alright. We are eager to start, but are a far cry from the pro's running this thread.

I agree, my frame was bare metal for three years because I could not get to it and in the two days it went from metal to primer to black was a BIG mental boost. Shiny is good! Nice shop to work in to, I sometimes think I spend more time moving stuff around to get room to work than actual progress.

Tyler, you should tell you dad to bring in a door or fender for you to work on at my house during the nights, we will slowly get your truck done now that you are in the city, and Don, do not worry, i have a project for you too.

Re: T-Man's 58 Apache project

I am wondering what the chances are of getting a couple measurements off the front clip. The distance from the front cab mount to the Camaro clip is basically what I am after. I have a 73 Nova clip welded into our 58 GMC but it's fish plated to the frame 5" below
