Post Polishing Old Aluminum on front of 68..

How do you guys polish the old aluminum headlight doors and oval trim pieces on the front of a 67/68 pickup? I have a lot of them lying around and would like to try my hand at making them look new again. They arent bent or scratched just have years of neglect and are very dull. I was thinking of using a bench grinder with a cloth polishing wheel attatched to it and some sort of compound.. what brand of compound do you all use and what method? Thanks!!
