Transfer case comes loose 05 2500HD

My co worker has a 05 2500hd 6.0 with the 4l80e trans. He keeps having trouble with the transfer case coming loose. It will break the studs off. It has done it 3 times now. transfer case problem?? Any suggestions???

The case is aluminum so when it gets hot then cold it expands and shrinks letting the hardware back out. Tell him to put some red thread lock on the hardware when he puts it back together. It will keep the hardware from coming out.

Magnesium actually on the NP261 and 263's that the HD's have. And that is not the issue.

DO NOT use loctite on the hardware, and BE SURE that only the correct coated bolts from GM have been used, otherwise it will create a galvanic reaction with the magnesium in the transfercase. This could also be part of his problem with the transfercase coming loose. I have never heard of this being a problem though.

Any bad u-joints causing vibrations and possibly loosening it up?
