well me and my brother decided to make a mud put in the yard we done tore up the grass and dug deep into the dirt now were just waiting for it to rain but i was wondering if any one has any tips here on how to maintain or make a mud pit

If you have access to a tractor and a disc, I'd run it through it two or three times.

We'd disc to passes wide on the edge of a field (62 ft) and then run a chisel down it the day before a storm so the mud would stay on top so it was nice and soppy for a few inches, so you could haul some ass and whip it around but didn't have to worry about getting your buddy stuck with his bald tires.

or even a home garden side roto-tiller will work, but bigger is always better!

Only time we have built a mud pit for some private boggs we used a plow and a ripper... Then just used a circle/water truck to fill it up.... But that might be overkill.. For 2 years on any given weekend you could find between 10-50 trucks around it.... One chevy on 54's which recently won at a mud race with like 30 trucks in its class got burried and it took a d6 cat and a 9400 john deere to pull it out

You need to create a basin to hold the water and mud in.It`ll just keep getting better.
