Question Fiberglass Consoles for our trucks

Just wondering if anyone on the board has ever tried one of these? I was thinking of making my own, but I've never really worked w/fiberglass. Plus check out the grilles! I don't like them, but they're interesting to say the least! http://www.classictruckconsoles.com/

I put up a post about consols in general a week or so ago and didn't get any response. I remember a few people having them. I was considering making one from wood to hold a radio, cups, and all kinds of guages and flips and switches. My dad has worked with fiberglass fixing vette's, its not hard, after you get your mold made right.

Low69CST, what are you planning on covering the console with? I've seen them done in vinyl/leather/fiberglass/carbon fiber/stainless on newer trucks, but I haven't seen too many in trucks like ours. I just think that since I haven't ever worked w/fiberglass before, taking on a project like a center console might be a little tough. Getting it to fit just right and also look "square" seems like it might be a lot of work. Maybe I should start out w/some kick panels or something and see how that goes.

I was thinking of covering it in a material that would atleast halfway resemble the rest of the truck, be some vinyl or some fabric. I was going to use wood because I had alot of things to incorporate, like box's for some 6.5's and i'd like to have a cover for my guages and other go-fast stuff so I don't completely give away my secrets at a show. I was thinking of having a cover that would pull up and side down inside, also some removeable pannels that would give access to working on the stuff inside without completely removing and unwiring everything. On top of that I know a cabinet maker that enjoys street rods and such. Having all that I thought wood would be best for me, but fiberglass would be just as good, but i'd be difficult adding in the doors and stuff

Cool, post a pic when you get it done. I'll do the same when I decide what I'm going to do.....

Ok, those consoles look nice, but $170 for a piece of fiberglass? Seems very expensive for what it is.

Those grill inserts are hideous. If they sell one set of those, I would be shocked.
