Truck stuck in 4 lo, HELP!!!

Ok thanks for looking. I was trying to pull my loaded car trailer out of my back yard in 2 wd lost traction and sunk the back wheels in the mud. I put it in Auto 4 and tried again I was looking at my front wheel and it wasn't spinning so i put it in 4 hi. all tires started spinning but it was bogged down. So I put the tranny in neutral and switched it to 4 lo, now it is 2 wd lo and it says 4x4 service required...... so I was wondering what it could be. Its and 07 GMC. Thanks for any help.

Re: Truck stuck in 4 lo, HELP!!!

well it depends on what you mean. Did I wait for the rear wheels to stop spinning before I shifted it.. Yes. But the first time I shifted was to automatic and I assumed it wasn't as instant as I thought so I immediatly shifted to 4 hi and all the tires spun. So I'm guessing the auto 4x4 wasn't working prior to me putting it into 4 hi.

Auto 4x4 is a bunch of crap it's stupid and I'm sick of it whenever you shift into 4x4 the gears have to mesh so it's safer when stopped or it will tear it up and that's probly what you did was there a giant clunk when you shifted it

Re: Truck stuck in 4 lo, HELP!!!

I am with munger, my 03 gmc with auto 4x4 flashes (service 4wd) every few days and the 4 lo light is on. I have to stop and put back into 4 hi and then to 2wd then mash the odometer button to clear.
My 03 chev hd k2500 does not have the auto 4x4 button and never gives any trouble... has any one ever changed an auto 4x4 button switch to a regular 4x4 switch... and if so, what is the procedure of deleting the extra wires from an auto 4x4 equiped truck?

Re: Truck stuck in 4 lo, HELP!!!

Sometimes my 04 silverado 2500 won't come out of 4x4 until I back up a little.then shift back into 2 wheel.I remember back in the mid 70's,my 4x4 with manual 4x4 shifter would do the same.Had to back up some to take the presure off of the transfer case to get it back in 2 wheel.Just a thought.

The electric shift 4x4 switches go bad. there is a tsb on them. THe serivce 4wd light will come and sill store a code. I think the code is B1365, it will be under trans or transfur case.
