Re: Putting the Pieces Together

Finally took some pix of the progress. Finished boxing the frame. Installed the center part of the dropmember. Set the cab on and test fit the engine and trans.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together

OK, here is my dilemma. The tailshaft has a 8 degree down slope with the trans crossmember at the bottom of the frame and about 6 degrees down with the tail housing touching the floorboard. The center of the rearend yoke sits 3.5 to 2.25 inches higher than the trans tailshaft.

I plan to run a 2 piece driveshaft. I originally thought I could run a 3 degree down on the trans and 3 degree up on the rearend. With my setup I am wondering if I would be ok, if I went straight out from the tailshaft running level with the frame rail and then allowing the rise from that to the rearend put enough angle (about 5 degrees) in the rear u-joints? That is based on leaving the rearend at 0 degrees.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together

NPilot,...
I'll let the driveshaft angle gurus answer your question, but I think you will need to change your upper bar mout at the rearend.
I believe your upper and lower bar rearend mounts should be in the same vertical plane.
(Unless your lower bar mounts are going to be the that far forward of the axle tube to match your upper bars)

Seems like most people just make the axle tube the centerline of both link mounts.
Otherwise you will get a bunch of pinion angle change through out your suspension travel.

Re: Putting the Pieces Together

Actually layed it out before making the mounts and once finished ran it through with less than 1 degree of pinion angle change.
