Small block factory torque strap

I am selling a NOS small block torque strap. This is for a non-A/C truck.
I am asking $40 shipped in the 48.

Re: Small block factory torque strap

I'm interested, but what does this thing do? And can you post a better picture of that assembly instruction page?

Re: Small block factory torque strap

This is a pretty rare option, and especially in such pristine shape and in the original box. It was designed/intended to limit the amount of rotational travel an engine might encounter due to the normal torque roll. It was actaully created and released due to a known problem with weak motor mounts breaking, allowing the engine to roll too far and jam the accelerator linkage wide open (not fun, trust me, riding in the back seat of 69 station wagon when it happened to us).

Re: Small block factory torque strap

I dont think that it was an option I'm pretty sure it was the answer to a factory recall, I think it was in 1972, for the problem that 72K20 stated.
A board member once posted the original letter notice, mailed to the original onwer of the truck, for the recall.
I am building an all original 1968 Fleetside, and its a must have for my truck, not just for originallty, but for safty.
I have two of them NOS.

Re: Small block factory torque strap

I don't have a factory V8. My truck was originally an inline. I'm wondering if I really need this thing since I'll be buying new motor mounts.

I'll take it. I'm in Ontario so I don't know what portion you were figuring for ship costs. I would guess it would be about $6 - 8 looking at the size of box and prob. weight . Let me know what you think. PM me payment details.

Re: Small block factory torque strap

my 1970 suburban ambulance has them, drivers and passenger side, never seen them on another truck. I thought they were cool so as with everything else, I left 'em original!
