76 blazer bed floor?

The floor on the back of my blazer looks as if someone cut 3"x6" pieces out of it in 4 places. I need to know the best way to fix it. I was thinking I could make a cardboard template and cut a piece of an old truck bed, tack it and be done.I know LMC sells the pieces but like most people I'm on a tight budget. Also only want to do it once so I want it done right. Thanks, stew
