67 C10 Dashboard removal mystery???

Tis a mystery. We've got what we think are all bolts loose, the front metal wiggles loosely, the instrument cluster removed, and it seems to be still attached somewhere back where the windshield comes down. If anyone knows the secret to removing the dash, it would be greatly appreciated!

Looks for some spot welds... They are there. Do you have the glass out? I think you will have to pull that also.

Re: 67 C10 Dashboard removal mystery???

yep, it's spot welded in. When I took mine out I used a plasma cutter and cut it under the dash pad and just removed the face of it. Replaced the face, welded it in and put the dash pad back on. You can't even tell that it's not the original dash

Re: 67 C10 Dashboard removal mystery???

Ouch! hmmm...maybe we don't need to take out the entire dash! (I really don't want to remove the glass and grind welds (and reweld) them!)

Can the pad be replaced? LMC or others carry replacement dashboard pads?

Thanks for the help!

Mark

Yes, you can buy new dash pads. There are the screws on the outside of the pad, and then there are bolts going the through the dash under the pad. Trevor

Re: 67 C10 Dashboard removal mystery???

So the pad has a base as part of it...I mean it isn't just a wrap around, glued on pad? (I found most of the bolts up underneath...a quick-nut fastener on them, but we are having trouble getting the two on each end out...quit for the night!)

Thanks again.

Mark, you need to pull the gauge panel out, and also the glovebox cardboard to get to the outer bolts, if you hadn't already. Trevor

Yes, we did that. 2 (speed)nuts on each of the far ends are giving us problems removing them. We'll get it eventually.

Thanks for the great answers!
