New Burb Owner in the Forum

About a month ago I stumbled upon a solid '68 3/4 Suburban and just had to have it. So I did some wheelin' and dealin' and made the move. Figured it was time to take a break from the custom VW bus scene....

Overall it's a pretty clean vehicle, other than the quick black primer job the prior owner applied. It still has the original interior, which needed a deep cleaning. Has a strong running 396 with new turbo 400

I'm planning on a Resto-Custom look, with factory colors and trim. Along with factory style interior. Definately will be lowered, and given new shoes. I already ordered bags for all four corners, and plan on drop spindles and brake conversion when money allows.

Here are a few pictures. I haven't seen this bucket/center console before, or in any parts catalogs. Was this a factory option, or owner upgrade?

Eric

I can't get more than 2 photos to upload (Rookie) so I'll post a couple more in next post.

Anyway. GREAT Forum and Site. Tons of info

Welcome to the board. You will find super people and advice on this site.

I noticed on your post you stated youwere going change from the VW Custom scene. There were two fellow ( brothers or cousins I think) that were from Las Vegas and actualy drove a Custom VW bus on one of the Bull Run Shows. Is that you ?

Re: New Burb Owner in the Forum

i say just get some 3/4 ton lowering springs, do a front disc swap and don't mess with it otherwise. everyone is eager to get a 1/2 ton. that truck looks awesome just as it sits and really only needs some spit and polish. 3/4 ton burbs are awesome.....i love mine!

Those look like original buckets for that rig. It appears you have a well optioned burb there. Can we get a pic of the options inside the glovebox door? Welcome, Eric

Re: New Burb Owner in the Forum

Thanks for all the encouragement. I told "Sub71" I'm like a 40 year old kid with a new toy. This thing is awesome. I just keep jumping from one thread to another gathering info.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I think that seat is one of the coolest features.

They did order it with some extra options. I'll get a photo of the glovebox. Plus I have all the documentation thru the mid 90's from the first 2 owners.

Nope not me, but good friends (they are brothers Bill and George). Here's a shot of my last home built project

Re: New Burb Owner in the Forum

Due to the fact that I'll be teaching my daughter to drive in this over the next few months, I've decided to forgo the air ride for now. Instead, I'm gonna do a disc brake conversion (staying 8 lug of course) and just drop it with springs and spindles. Safety, and my sanity, first.

On another note. Out here in the great state of Nevada, I still have to smog this beast. So after a quick tune-up and carb adjustment, the big 396 passed with flying colors. Just doin' my part to stay green....... Hahahahaha

Re: New Burb Owner in the Forum

I just received my 8 lug disc brake conversion today from Performance Online. Along with drop spindles and 3inch springs for the front...... Now I just need a few days to get this big 8 lugger on the ground. Unfortunately the rear springs are about 7 days out.
