another question for you guys...

well, i bought the truck and was told it had a replaced engine. that a new engine and trans were put in truck....
no papers to prove. but friend that knows a little said engine looks newer

now the guy said 5.7
the papers in glove have 5.7 circled
the sticker in engine bay says 5.0

i was having starting issues and a guy on this forum told me it might be ignition module....so i went to parts store and picked one up.
for the 5,7.

came home and took mine out. and its the wrong part. went back to exchange it. and the girl said she looked under 50 and the part i needed was there.

57 didnt match.
50 did??

so how can i tell what i have in truck??
engine wise and i guess trans too

so far ive been replacing parts as in tune up parts
with 5.7 parts. thats what i thought i had and so i asked for those parts

any way for me to find out exactly whats under the hoood??

thanks for any help

small blck chevy parts interchange so readily that a 5.0 part on a 5.7 or visa versa is common

Re: another question for you guys...

Lots of these old trucks have had the old 305 (5.0) replaced with a 350 (5.7). I know mine has, because I'm the one who replaced it.

I would expect the ignition module to be the same for both. If it is '87 and up, though, I couldn't say. They are a little different.

Does the truck have overdrive? If so, it is probably a 700R4. If not, it is probably a TH350 (or TH350C with lockup) or a TH400. Look here to identify it.

looks like they closed it down...too bad.

However, a simple google search resulted...

Should get the OP, and others who don't google first, pointed in the right direction.
