I invented a new tool, and I'll share.

this has probably been thought of before, but I've never seen it. It seems too easy, but it works.

All you need is couple 1/2" washers, 2 small scrap pieces of metal, a big C clamp, a pair of vise grips, a welder, a hacksaw, and a tiny bit of brains.

Voila!!! Valve spring compressor(I recommend using the little plastic/rubber pad on the screw side to protect the bottom of the valve). Alternate version: don't include the washers, and you have an adjustable quick clamp.

I'm seeing a good welding clamp for some of the production parts I make. Very cool..

Re: I invented a new tool, and I'll share.

I just finished removing all my springs with my new tool. I did not have to use the little washer thing, but I did have to do a bit of grinding and drilling on the end of the clamp to get the retainers out. Worked like a charm!

Neat concept but they have been around for a while, did you make an actual prototype?

I did actually make one, but I haven't taken any pics yet. It worked great removing all my valve springs. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow.

You are correct. It is not an actual pic. For my day job, I do mechanical engineering and design on the computer. I ran out of work, so I did a model of my tool. I use SolidWorks and I am a CSWP if anyone cares.
