An old Toyota who is new to Suburbans

I just picked up my first Suburban out of California and it needs a little body work. The Suburban was actually one that was for sale on this site.

I purchased it for $2500, came with lots of extras including a Diesel that I plan on using for my engine swap.

My first question is, where is the best place to get sheetmetal? It looks like I would need the front and rear of both wheelwells, and maybe some rockers. I have seen them on LMC, but I heard they were not the best place to buy sheetmetal. What do you guys think?.

I have been getting familiar with this board, and have pretty much answered my parts questions, I will definitly look to the vendors on this board for panels. As for the rest, I was just introducing myself as a newbie.

Welcome to the board! That is a nice looking burb you got there. You may want to try classic parts here in KC for your metal. I'm sure some of the other guys will give you more vendors too.

what diesel motor did it come with? I just swapped a 6.2L into my '71 Burb

Thanks for the good words, I have spent a lot of hours working on LandCruisers and spending time on Ih8mud gathering and sharing information, I am hoping to do the same on this board.

I will definitly check with classic parts for the sheetmetal. What I am looking for is a good replacement part that will require the least amount of fitting possible.

Just to give an idea of what I am looking to do to the Suburban.

2.5" or 4" Lift springs (Haven't Decided Yet),
35x12.5 on Mags,
1996 12Valve 6BT Cummins Diesel,
NV4500 Trans with possible splitter,
NP205 Transfer Case
Rust repair,
2 tone paint original color,
stock 3 row seating,
stock front and rear A/C,
Long range fuel tank,

I believe this is a complete list, after this is all done I just need to find myself an AirStream trailer for camping.

I do know I am going to need a 72 grill, I will check the classifides, but if anyone has one available please let me know.

I have always liked Cummins Diesels, so I figured this would be a great vehicle for that swap, plenty of power and pretty good fuel mileage. I am considering a spillter for even better fuel milage for the road trips I hope to take in this Suburban.

It's good to see a familiar name, I have been on Ih8mud for years, and have been building LandCruiser for even longer. My family has gotten big enough that it is time for a Suburban, and what Suburban would be better than a 67 - 72, and in my case a 72. I don't know a lot about them, so I am going to definitely lean on this board for answers.

By the way, I haven't given up on LandCruisers, I am just finishing my 79FJ40, and I have my 79FJ55 ready to be restored after this Suburban. My wife will be driving the Suburban, and I will be driving the 55, its the best of both worlds.

By the way, I am DieselFJ on Mud as well.
