tail gate hinge question

I have a really loose gate on the btm right side. It rattles. I'm wondering if I have the wrong ball/hinge. I got it from an 81 and the gate is a 79. Or is there a liner ring in the gate for wearing purposes?

Can some one with an 77-80 tell me how wide their right side ball is? this is the one that is like a "D" so you can take the gate off at about 50% down location.
thanks

Re: tail gate hinge question

81+ gates have a smaller trunion, go get one for a 80 and older, problem solved.

Re: tail gate hinge question

Here is the identification thread I put together for identifying tailgates.

You won't be able to go below 1975 and still remove your tailgate
