I have a '71 longbed that I love, but I have to admit, IMOH it would look better as a shortbed. What exactly would be involved to do this? Could I take off the bed, remove the front panel, cut off a certain(how much?) amount off the front of the bed and then remove and box the frame(specific area?) the same amount, driveshaft same amount, fuel/brake-lines and have this accomplished? Or is it more complicated than that?

If you look at side shots of a short bed C-10 stepside and your longbed C-10 you will see that there is/are a few inches extra behind the fenders that will need to be trimmed off to make things right in appearance.
Shortening the wheelbase and box to get it to the short bed length is the first step then shorten the back end of the box to make it into a shortbed box instead of a cut down longbed box with extra inches on the back end.

A good spotweld cutter should let you cut the spot welds out of the corner posts so that you can move them and weld them back.
