Seat covers for 76 bucket seats??

Anyone know if you can buy seat covers that fit the short back bucket seats? I've got a burgandy set from a 76 K5 that are going in a green truck and don't really have the time/$ to reupholster... so I'd like to find a set of seat covers that would fit. Or will I have to buy the high-back bucket covers and modify them?

Re: Seat covers for 76 bucket seats??

I think PUI is reproducing them now. There are quite a few sets on ebay.

edit- I think I may have misread that. Are you looking for new upholstery, or some covers for teh seat? If it's just covers, I bet you will have to modify some high back ones.

Re: Seat covers for 76 bucket seats??

I haven't seen low back seat covers...so you might have to get the high backs and modify to fit.

If you end up biting the bullet and getting "real" seat covers, contact Chris CaptKaos, I got mine from him and installed myself...pretty easy to do. Chuck (stitch) can hook you up too.

Thanks for the kind words Frank. Since the pics, I have added seat heaters and recovered them.

Re: Seat covers for 76 bucket seats??

He is looking for cheap covers to go over his seats, not the actual seat cover material. Think mexican blanket over a bench seat. He wants the blanket without the mexican.

That is if I am reading his first post correctly.

ok gotcha...didn't know if you were saying that the high backs weren't real seat covers or that Chris was the only one to get the low back seat covers from...

and p.s. seat heaters are nice...both my new truck and the wifes car both have them and we love them...on cold mornings they are great before the motor warms up and the heater kicks in

Or in my case, the only heat I have in the truck! I want to enjoy the truck on those cool early spring and late fall evenings.

Re: Seat covers for 76 bucket seats??

good deal...they'll definitely knock the chill out of the seat...I don't necessarily want hot air blowing on me when my back and butt isn't warm...I'd rather the seat warm me up actually...like sleeping in a cool house under a big blanket...love it...call me wierd...lol

Jeff,
Did you use different covers than the ones pictured or just remove them , install the heaters ,and reinstall those covers?

Same covers. Remove, put in heaters, re-cover. Did a better job the second time around too.

LOL. Yup, pretty much it... something quick and dirty (well, maybe not dirty, but you know what I mean) to get by until I've got more time and money. Then I'll look into one of the guys here to get something done.

Re: Seat covers for 76 bucket seats??

I have been using seat covers made by Bell on all of my new vehicles for the past few years. They are canvas type material with a waterproof backing. Lightweight, but very durable. Not a custom fit - but those usually cost big $$.
You can get a set of bucket covers off the internet or at Pep Boys, etc., for about $20/pair. They make a bench cover also.
