31x10.50 or 33x12.50 on a 2wd longbed
I just purchased a 71 longbed which I plan to make a shortbed, but in the meantime while Im gathering parts and supply's to do a frame off, I've been tinkering with the idea of putting some 31 or 33's on some 15x8 ralley's that came with the truck. I prefer the taller tires to fill the wheelwells on a longbed.
You fella's are the experts.....will I have to worry about any clearance issues lock to lock? Better yet, anyone have pictures of some installed on a 2 wheel drive Last edited by 68short; 04-19-2011 at 11:54 PM. |

Check my link on the 71 out and see what you think man. I will get you actual sizes in the morning. I bought them on a $300 truck with the rims. I believe they are 31's but will double check in daylight.

I looked at one with a set of 31" on it and they looked good. I think the 33's would be too tall and would rub when turning.

31's work fine on 8 inch rallies

I've got 31's on my rear and they look good, but to me they are the upper limit for 15 inch rims, i would think that 33's just might look too big for 15" rims. meaning a little too much side wall. but that is just my opinion.

Just put some 31's on white wagons on mine. Plenty of room and looks good.

Thanks for the reply's fella's. From the pic, they do look pretty good. I guess I'll get a set this weekend, there only $15ea for any tire on a steel rim at the local wrecking yard

I had a set of 33 12.50's on a C20, sorry no pics and long since traded away, IMO they were too much tire for a for a 2 wheel drive truck.

Re: 31x10.50 or 33x12.50 on a 2wd longbed
Don't have pictures anymore, but when I first got my truck it had 31s on it. I went to a slightly smaller tire when I replaced them but they didn't look bad, just depends on your taste.
I agree, though that 33s might look rather big and awkward on a 2wd truck.

Re: 31x10.50 or 33x12.50 on a 2wd longbed
I tried a set of 33's on my 68 to see how it looked and to gain top end. they fit but in my opinion it did not look good at all and were really close to rubbing. now I have 31's on the back and I think that is a good size for it. You gain a little top end and I like the look of a bigger tire in the back.
