Re: Wrecked our baby.
Haven't asked Haggerty to press. I'll do some pressing of my own on Monday.

Re: Wrecked our baby.
I have SF and never had them hurry up on anything. but the squeaky wheel does get oiled, ya know? You are driving a rental vehicle right?

Re: Wrecked our baby.
Sorry to hear about this. Having been hit a few times in the past the only advice I'd offer is patience.
Often its not the insurance co dragging its feet, its the other party. They know they messed up but they are reluctant to admit fault and trying to cover their behind. Things may be moving slow because the other party hasn't owned up and given their statement or is giving bs info that they are having to validate to find out who is at fault. Give them a ring on Monday and say something like "It's been a few days just wondering if I needed to give you something else?" While state farm is gonna be looking out for their guy that doesn't mean you can 't curry a bit of favor by being reasonable, especially if the adjuster has been getting the run around from the other guy. When it comes time to talk $, just remember insurance is gambling. They sell it to you making a bet that you make a claim and when they lose that bet, they make another one hoping you'll settle for the lowest option. Best of luck in this, glad everyone is ok and I hope your ride is back on the road soon.

Re: Wrecked our baby.
Hi!
Thanks for all your advice and support! Things are looking up after seeing the police report and getting a more positive outlook from the body shop. The best thing is that my wonderful honey wasn't hurt and I only got a sprained knee. Poor Erma Jane took the blow for us. I'm including before and after pics for you, though I'll have to do a couple of batches. The ones attached to this message are "before". Best, Babydoll |

Re: Wrecked our baby.
According to the shop, it looks like the frame is OK. The header of the box was already bent but it does appear that the cab is pushed back. All will be righted............I hope. :-)

Re: Wrecked our baby.
Ouch ,thats hard to look at but it can hopefully be repaired good as new .Be a good time for a cowl hood and let the insurance pay for it .Such a shame as that was and will be again a beautiful truck .Best of luck on the restoration.

Re: Wrecked our baby.
I used to have state farm on my Z-28 and my Corvette i used to have. I had the Corvette insured with full coverage for an agreed value. In other words if anything happend to it i would get the agreed value and not what the appraiser said it was worth. I'm not sure what insurance you have but they all will try to lowball you. Stick to your guns and and seek an appraisal if needed. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Joseph

Re: Wrecked our baby.
wow, flashback for me here.
in 93 I had an 84 Grand Prix Brougham that had a full blown custom paint job. IIRC it cost me about $8000. when the shop in Columbus GA did it they said a match was impossible. after I got home a guy backed his motorhome up across the driver's fender. it didn't bend any metal, just scraped the paint back to primer about 2" wide by 6" long. he had State Farm and the people there said I needed to get 3 estimates. I only found one shop in my 3 state area who would touch it. even at that they said they could not guarantee a perfect match (4 coats of custom mix 2 tone color and 6 coats of clear with gold dust in #1). they estimated $2500. SF came back to me and cut me a check for $4000 to cover my searching costs plus repair. keep in mind though that I was on them every day with my findings and concern for perfection, just like it was before.

Re: Wrecked our baby.
My girlfriend will call State Farm today to find out what's going on. The accident was 8 days ago and the shop needs to get working on it so we can get rid of the rental. I'm not going to assume anything bad from SF but if they are reluctant to take care of it, I'm no stranger to a fight for coverage. Since the only contact with them has been initiated by us, I'm already thinking we'll end up fighting.
Thanks for all the support. We'll have Erma Jane back on the road I'm sure. We're only wondering when right now. ha ha ha |

Re: Wrecked our baby.
Took over two months, but we finally got our Erma Jane back right before Christmas (great gift!). Better than ever, as we had them paint the top the correct white.
