trading 87 for a 79? c 10 with problems.

So I found a beautiful custom deluxe. 350 w/th350. Kid says its a 79 but from. BRowsing some forums the vin is 78 or older. No big deal. Anyway kid bought it for his first truck for $3500, and before he got his liscense the tranny went. Upon inspection of the truck I noticed the torque converter has came unbolted from the flywheel. What are the chances I can bolt them back up and the trans be ok? Fluid dosnt have any metal shavings or anything in it. Also I'm trading a 87 seirra classic with worn out 305. Needs fair bit of body work ect.. Got this truck VERY cheap. So I kinda wana jump on this deal. s

As long as neither the flywheel nor the TC is damaged, I'd bolt everything up tight again as it should, replace the fluid and filter and try it. The chances are, it will still work.
