Re: GMC Trim Levels Q?

One thing GMC did across the board was to paint the dash bezel and glove box the color of the interior. I'm thinking, although Sierra Grandes started before Cheyenne Supers, they didn't get the woodgrain dash until '71. I'm wondering if only 71/72s say the trim level in the fender badge. Across the board,a Custom got the same thing as a Chevy Custom...mid-level until Sierra Grande came out, when Super Custom became mid-level. I know in 71/72 Super Custom was equivalent to Custom Deluxe. I assume in '70 Super Custom was equivalent to a Chevy Custom...once the Sierra Grande came out.
To make things confusing,GMC called their 133" Wideside a Custom Camper, not Longhorn. You could have the Custom Camper pkg option on any 2500 or 3500. So,a 133" Custom Camper could be a Custom Camper Custom Camper with any trim level. I have fender badges that are 3500 Custom Camper. I have no idea what they would have come on. I have seen 127" 2500 Custom Campers that had the door script and 133" 2500 with the door script.

This may be true in the south but in Canada 67's i believe they were black and grey and so was the glove box door. I have had mulitple 67's gmc's and they were all like this. I have a 68 and 70 gmc and they are painted the same. Here are some pic's of a Canadian 67 GMC super custom i had till last year. only thing i added was the tilt column and clock wasn't original. i also robbed the buddies out of it for my short bed project.

Here's my "new" Sierra, SPID and emblems. Notice the Saddle glove-box color.

Re: GMC Trim Levels Q?

I've got a ton of history with my 71 Serra Grande. So from everything I've seen this appears to be one of the first to roll off the line. The order sheet shows he ordered it in November 1,1970, and took delivery Feb 4, 1971.
My dash and glove box is painted the same as the dash and the glove box has GMC Custom.
The fender has GMC 1500 V-Eight, the door has "Custom" Script, Serra Grande on the rear fenders.

The interior has the wood grain trim, head liner with chrome trim, interior & exterior cargo light.

X2 on this-My bezel and glove box are black on my 67 GMC. The body colour is/was medium blue. We're pretty thrifty up here so Oshawa might have saved money and said that was a "contrast" colour (that is doesn't match so we'll say we meant it to be like that!)

Re: GMC Trim Levels Q?

I have had the same question about trim levels/features of the 1967 GMC super custom. Below are some photos of my truck - a '67 3/4 ton super custom. I purchased it from my grandfather who had bought it new - so everything except wheels, radio, and door speakers are stock. My understanding is the fender badge, large rear window, side trim, inner door liners, and (perhaps) seat was unique to the super custom. Is this correct?

Not correct. The super custom may have made one or more required, but i know you could get that stuff as options on the custom (and probably the base model too). Super custom got you a buddy buckets, carpet, and a fancier horn button, thats it per my dealer brochure. I have two customs with the panoramic window option, trim, door liners and have seen others with that fender badge.

Nice truck btw!

As part of the 1967 GMC super custom the fender badge and seats are part of the super custom option. The side trim and big back window were options available and should be listed on your SPID, if you have one.

Thanks for this info. I have had two GMC's where the glove box and dash bezel were color keyed to the interior color in this case black in my 72 GMC Super Custom.

Does any body know in the Super Custom if the brake and gas pedals came from the factory with the stainless steel trim around the rubber pads?

Yes,they would have the trimmed pedals as well as dash knobs and cab glass.

I never knew '72 GMCs could be had with the plaid seat inserts. Just an option on it's own,I guess. I have never know of GMC offering the Highlander pkg, which was the only way a '72 Chevy got plaid.

Was that true for Super Customs in 67 as well? The Customs then did not have the trimmed pedals.

Were the pedals trimmed for Super Customs in 67? The Customs then did not have the trimmed pedals but did have the knobs and all other bright work around glass.
