Post Air Conditioning Question

I'm converting my 69 Longhorn to an air cab and have seen the alternator mounted on the driver's side - were there any V-8 models with the alt on the Pass side? I'm using 327 heads without tapped holes for mounts. I have the pass side mounts for the alt, but am wondering if they will work?? Thanks in advance to the experts Lee

You need to get the correct alternator brackets (upper and lower) for driver's side mounting.

Look in LMC for the proper mounts. My 70 cst has a 350 and it's on drivers side. My 72 longhorn has a big block 402 and it's on passenger side.

If you can find an old 283 or 327 they had the alt on drivers sde and did not have holes in the head for mounting the brackets.. they mounted on the block and manifold I believe.

I have brackets for the passenger side and that's where my alternator is now . . . does this mean it can stay and not be in the way for the A/C belt, or does it have to move?? I've seen them both ways, & didn't know if I could keep mine where it is. Thanks - Lee

My 71 Longhorn 402 has the alt on the driver's side, above the p/s pump that has the remote resevoir (sp) and the ac compressor on the pass side.
