Post Gas gauge not working any idea?

Where should I look first?

is it pegged ot the right E or no ? the cause depend son thew symptom when it comes to fuel sender system, if its pegged to right then the tan wire that runs from the fuse panel back to the unit in the tank has lost connection at the panel or at the unit or is broken inside the insulation along the way somewhere.
also the float ball could have fallen off of the float arm

if not pegged ot right then either unit could be bad or the hot source to the gauge from thepanel could have been lost, IE problem in fuse panel or ign switch

Take out the sending unit in the tank, and hook up a multimeter to it. The sender works on resistence, so put the multimeter on the OMS (or OMHS im not sure, lol) and move the float arm up and down. If moving it up and down changes the resistance, the sending unit is fine. If it dosen't, your sending unit is shot.

Question

Not about to take the tank down! LOL If I did that I'd have to order a new sending unit while I was at it! It worked before, but i think I did something when I pulled the gauge cluster out of the dash?? What could I have done??

Next question is there a filter on the fuel pickup on the sending unit thingy bobby??

Also how much is a new sending unit? And is there different grades of units? IE Stainless ones?? Also anyone ever put a poly tank in a blazer??

I was thinking you had a truck, not a Blazer, lol. There is a little nylon bag around the pickup on the sending unit. The unit costs about $50 for a truck, it may be the same for a Blazer but im not sure.
