Roof is off

Also got a pair of tow hooks, cleaned them up and tried some Rustoleum spray on bed liner on them.

Some people just dont understand that these trucks are historical already. All they know is that it doesn't fit in with the disposable life style they live and they have a payment on something that will never last long enough to be considered historical.

END RANT!

honestly you shouldnt of cut it like that. You should have drilled out the spot weld and removed the whole skin and do the same on your truck. Then just spot weld it back, seam seal and its just like factory. Maybe make a post in the body forum

Re: Project Eye Sore

Tried out some chrome paint, at ~$35 a vent (remanufactured at that) I figured it was worth a shot...that's a $140 just in a/c vents :xeyed:

Only $200 and I can make the first big order and get paint put on:

that was the only color that made sense to me, GM Sante Fe Tan....it's original, but rare and doesn't stick out. Thinking about doing the bottom black in bedliner to protect from rocks and such.

Re: Project Eye Sore

Scored a like new windshield today, $30. The truck was an 89, but it looked like the windshield was recently replaced in it.

Also got scheduled to get a new roof skin on my truck, 2 weeks and I'll drop it off, then back and ready for paint (assuming I don't buy a new kayak before then).

Re: Project Eye Sore

Found some more parts, the Knoxville Rescue Squad dropped of their Suburban at Pull a Part, it had been VERY well maintained. I got the door panels, vent window assembles, the last of my interior trim, the hood, steering wheel and some other misc parts. I missed out on the dash and decided not to use that factory buckets in it (which were also in real good shape...should just got them anyways and resold) but I'm happy with what I could get.

The trucks pretty messy right now, been going fishing a couple times a week in it.

New factory 4x4 wheel:

New door panels, window crank and door handle. Originally tan, sprayed them with bed liner, covered the arm rest in left over headliner material:

New hood, not a dent on it:

Repainted the shift knob cause I was bored:

New vent windows:

$15 for the windows, apposed to several hundred each from LMC.
Hopefully some paint will follow this fall.
