Guess what...I'm still alive!! (and playing with a new toy)...

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop ya'll a line to say "hey". Been a crazy 13 months. Sold my house, my 68 and my bronco. Getting married in October....the list goes on and on.

My newest toy is actually my father-in-law's, but it's willed to me....

It's a 62 Impala 4 door. 80,000 original miles, 283/pg, no frills. Was originally a radio delete car, but my father-in-law has added a factory original radio. That's as far as he's willing to venture from stock. The body is in great shape, paint is original and ugly and the interior is beautiful and completely original, minus the replacement carpet.

Mike (my father in law) hasn't done much to the car since he bought it years ago, but with a gearhead in the family now, that is changing.

So far we haven't done anything huge, but here's a short list:
  • Changed fuel tank, sender and carb inlet filter.
  • Replaced the radiator hoses, pulled the radiator, had it boiled and a small leak repaired. (Original radiator and bottom radiator hose)
  • Cap, rotor, points and condensor.
  • Replaced front grille (original was in a fender-bender at some point)
  • Replaced the factory AM radio with another unit...the one that was in the car was defective.
  • Installed the 1962 Illinois plates that I bought him for Christmas.

I'm sure there's plenty more I can't think of right now. He wants to rebuild the 283 this winter, and the powerglide needs some attention as well. Then I'm sure it will snowball into a full resto.

Anyway, here are a few pics, I'll be asking some questions soon.

Thanks,

TJ
